Black Currant Gets the Brand Treatment McCormick & Company is rolling out its 2026 Flavor of the Year across two major food collaborations this summer, each designed to showcase black currant's versatility beyond the spice aisle. Starting August 3, Prince St. Pizza will debut the Black Currant Big Apple Pie Pizza at all locations nationwide through August 31. The limited-edition dessert pizza features McCormick Black Currant Finishing Sugar and frosting drizzle, blending dark berry notes with apple-pie sweetness. The pizza will be available for in-store purchase and nationwide delivery via Prince St. Pizza's website, UberEats, and Postmates. "This collaboration brought together two brands that share a passion for flavor and creativity," said Lawrence Longo, CEO of Prince St. Pizza. "Partnering with McCormick gave us the opportunity to explore a completely new side of pizza, blending familiar dessert-inspired flavors with the bold, over-the-top approach our guests expect from Prince St. Pizza. The result is a fun, nostalgic offering that's unlike anything we've done before." Social media personality Hannah Stocking is promoting the pizza collaboration at her "favorite pizza spot," according to the announcement.
Frozen Yogurt Extension Following the pizza launch, Go Greek Yogurt will introduce a limited-edition Black Currant frozen yogurt flavor from August 31 through September 28 at participating stores nationwide. The product pairs black currant's tart-sweet profile with Go Greek's high-protein, probiotic base. "At Go Greek Yogurt, we are always looking for meaningful ways to bring new experiences to our guests through thoughtful collaborations and exceptional ingredients," said Tanja Subotic, Co-Founder of Go Greek Yogurt. "Black currant's delicious balance of tartness and sweetness pairs beautifully with the rich, creamy tang of authentic Greek yogurt. We are excited to share this limited-edition creation and invite our guests to discover this new flavor!" McCormick crowned black currant as its 2026 Flavor of the Year as part of the company's annual Flavor Forecast report, which has tracked culinary trends since 2000. The company also offers black currant products directly to consumers, including Sweet & Smoky Naturally Flavored Black Currant Seasoning and Black Currant Finishing Sugar.
Why It Matters
These partnerships illustrate how flavor houses are deepening engagement with food operators and consumers through co-branded limited editions. For operators, the collaborations demonstrate a playbook for licensing established flavor trends into adjacent categories—in this case, moving a spice house's seasonal pick into both savory and sweet segments within a compressed window.
