High-pressure processing equipment leader Hiperbaric will unveil its most productive HPP configuration to date at PACK EXPO International 2026 in Chicago, showcasing the Hiperbaric 525 (H525) fitted with 12 intensifiers — a setup the company says achieves the highest cycle rate available on a 525-gallon platform at 6,000 bar operating pressure.

The significance for food and beverage processors is direct: HPP remains the primary non-thermal, post-packaging preservation technology for extending shelf life without heat damage, chemical preservatives, or compromise to sensory quality. At 6,000 bar / 600 MPa, the system inactivates vegetative foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms at process temperatures of 5°C–20°C, enabling clean-label formulations across juice, ready-to-eat meats, seafood, dairy, and prepared foods without the need for added preservatives.

Throughput and Footprint

The H525 with 12 intensifiers completes up to 10.7 cycles per hour — a benchmark Hiperbaric reports outperforms comparably configured systems tested at identical parameters: 6,000 bar working pressure, a 3-minute holding time, and 60Hz frequency. The machine ships in two configurations. The Standard layout positions intensifiers at floor level alongside the vessel, occupying 1,000 square feet at a machine height of 8.9 feet — suitable for facilities without the ceiling clearance for elevated equipment. The Integrated configuration installs intensifiers on a built-in mezzanine platform above the vessel, reducing the floor footprint to 940 square feet at a height of 16.5 feet. Freed plant floor can then accommodate upstream and downstream automation, co-manufacturer line integration, or added equipment.

A retrofit path is available for processors already running H525 units in either configuration: existing machines can be upgraded to the full 12-intensifier count, and Standard units can be converted to the full Integrated mezzanine architecture, giving current operators a clear capacity expansion route without capital investment in a new vessel.

Operator ergonomics are built into the system design. A fully integrated return conveyor eliminates up to 20,000 pounds of manual canister lifting per shift — a meaningful safety and labor consideration for high-volume operations running multiple shifts. Each of the 12 intensifiers is independently isolatable, a design Hiperbaric says is unique to its HPP equipment line, allowing technicians to service a single intensifier while the remaining units keep the machine running. Because Hiperbaric manufactures intensifiers in-house, the company can iterate on performance specs based on field data from its global installed base of more than 450 machines.

Support Infrastructure

Every H525 ships with Hiperbaric's HPP Support Program, included at no ongoing cost for the life of the equipment. The program covers 24/7 remote troubleshooting via phone, email, chat, and built-in HMI chat; on-site field service engineers deployable within 24–48 hours; and four global spare parts warehouses — in the USA, Mexico, Spain, and New Zealand — each committed to shipping under 24 hours. An Uptime Portal provides customers access to parts ordering, live shipment tracking, preventative maintenance schedules, and technical manuals, while in-house food process authorities are available to support clean-label formulation and regulatory validation work for new HPP product launches.
