New Partnership Targets Functional Soy Market VEPRONA GmbH, a German supplier of single-variety, identity-preserved soy raw materials, has brought on refinement specialist Crespel & Deiters as a shareholder, joining existing owners farmsaat and L. Stroetmann. The partnership aims to expand VEPRONA's product range with functional soy ingredients engineered for specific technological properties. Founded in 2022 in Everswinkel, Germany, VEPRONA manages the soy value chain from variety development through contract farming to ingredient production. The company selects soybean varieties based on application, as each type affects protein quality, water binding, solubility, and processing behavior.
Combining Raw Materials with Processing Expertise The partnership pairs VEPRONA's raw material control with Crespel & Deiters' processing capabilities. "We know exactly which properties our soybean varieties have and that's where functionality begins. Crespel & Deiters is now contributing its know-how in processing protein raw materials so that, together, we can deliver soy ingredients that are tailored to the needs of our customers and their products," says Carolin Bunsen, Managing Director of VEPRONA GmbH. Crespel & Deiters brings nearly 170 years of experience refining functional starch and protein ingredients from renewable raw materials. "Soy is a renewable raw material with a lot of potential. Combined with our in-depth expertise in refinement, we can add value to VEPRONA soy ingredients and make them suitable for a wide range of applications," says Philipp Deiters, CSO Food at Crespel & Deiters.
Product Focus and Versatility The partners will focus on partially defatted soy ingredients with high protein content.
Depending on variety and processing, these products contain up to 57 percent protein and low fat levels. "Our soy ingredients are an alternative to concentrates and isolates. Thanks to gentle processing, we offer soy flours with full protein functionality, including binding properties, water solubility and extrudability. This makes them highly versatile in meat and sausage products, baked goods or dairy and meat alternatives," says Thorben Raasch, R&D Manager at VEPRONA GmbH. VEPRONA will showcase its soy raw materials at Fi Europe 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany (November 17–19) at the Crespel & Deiters booth 31A20.
Why It Matters
The partnership addresses growing demand for plant-based protein ingredients with consistent functionality and traceability. By combining controlled supply chains with processing expertise, VEPRONA and Crespel & Deiters can offer food manufacturers alternatives to concentrates and isolates with predictable performance across applications—a competitive advantage in an increasingly ingredient-conscious market.
