Natural Colors, Stable Through Cooking Crespel & Deiters has introduced Lory® Crumb Colored, a breadcrumb system formulated with natural colorants that maintain their hue during cooking while remaining flavor-neutral. The line comes in green, pink, yellow, orange, and white, and can be used individually or blended together. The crumbs are sugar-free and created with coloring foods. According to Birgit Wessner, Product Manager at Crespel & Deiters: "Colored Crumbs give product developers and marketers a tool that helps attract attention and makes products stand out from the crowd. Color becomes a communication tool for brands, occasions and target audiences. And because the natural colorants do not affect the flavor, such creative freedom does not require any recipe adjustments."
Applications Across Production Segments Lory® Crumb Colored is suited for breading and coating meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, cheese, and plant-based products. The system also works as a topping for baked goods, rolls, pretzel products, snack buns, and finger foods. It integrates into existing breading lines and production processes at industrial, convenience, and foodservice scales. When blended with conventional breadcrumbs, the colored variant does not bleed and remains clearly visible, enabling targeted patterns and color accents. The product is designed to support limited-edition releases, seasonal promotions, co-branded offerings, and campaign launches, with colors delivering reliable, reproducible results at industrial scale.
Why It Matters
For operators in foodservice, snacking, and baked goods manufacturing, the launch addresses demand for product differentiation without reformulation. The color-stability claim and flavor neutrality reduce risk in new product development, while the ability to run multiple colors through existing lines cuts operational complexity.
