Most plant-based meat alternatives are shipped frozen or refrigerated, a costly approach that strains cold-chain infrastructure and limits distribution reach. Creative Pea is upending that model with a different supply chain entirely. The company developed a shelf-stable, high-protein dry mix that consumers reconstitute with water and a small amount of oil to create burgers, nuggets, kebabs, and fish-style products in minutes. The formulation dramatically reduces shipping volume and warehouse footprint while eliminating refrigeration requirements.
Current Footprint Creative Pea products are currently stocked in more than 1,500 retail stores across Israel, on Amazon USA, and Walmart Marketplace. The company also holds approved-supplier status with Burger King Israel and is pursuing partnerships with North American retailers and distributors.
Why It Matters
For plant-based operators and retailers, shelf-stable formats lower total landed costs and simplify inventory management—critical advantages in a crowded category where margins remain thin and cold-chain overhead cuts into profitability. Creative Pea's approach suggests that consumer willingness to reconstitute plant-based proteins at home may unlock new distribution channels beyond premium natural retailers.
