From Sunday Lunch Experiment to International Brand Banhoek Chilli Oil traces its origins to frustration.
Co-founders Ken Kinsey-Quick and Adi Meintjes, brothers-in-law bonded by a shared interest in food, noticed inconsistent quality in chilli oils served at pizza restaurants. Their response: experimentation. During Sunday family lunches, the pair tested more than 60 combinations of chillies and edible oils to develop a product they felt met their standards. The result became what they branded "The Perfect Bite of Flavour."
Growth and Production Evolution Launched as a collaboration between Kinsey-Quick's entrepreneurial direction and Meintjes's culinary expertise, Banhoek Chilli Oil quickly outgrew its initial home kitchen setup. The operation moved to the garage before securing a permanent facility in South Africa's Cape Winelands region in 2020. The brand now distributes globally, with products made in small batches using what the company describes as 100% natural, premium ingredients. The company positions itself around craftsmanship and quality consistency—the exact gap that inspired its founding.
