From Kitchen Experiment to Cape Winelands Production Banhoek Chilli Oil emerged from a straightforward frustration: inconsistent chilli oil quality at pizza restaurants. Brothers-in-law Ken Kinsey-Quick and Adi Meintjes began experimenting during Sunday family lunches, testing more than 60 different combinations of chillies and edible oils to develop what they call "The Perfect Bite of Flavour."

Growth Into Production Kinsey-Quick brought entrepreneurial vision while Meintjes contributed culinary expertise.

The operation outgrew their home kitchen, moved to a garage, and by 2020 established permanent production in South Africa's Cape Winelands region. The brand now distributes globally, handcrafting products in small batches using 100% natural ingredients. The company emphasizes quality and craftsmanship as core operational principles.

Why It Matters

For operators and retailers, the success signals growing consumer appetite for artisanal condiments with traceable provenance. Small-batch chilli oils occupy a premium shelf position in pizzerias, fine-dining kitchens, and specialty retail—a category that continues to attract both niche producers and established food companies.
